1. Who We Are

VOYA ("we," "our," or "the app") is a career and academic tracking platform for students, developed and operated as a beta product by its sole founder. You can contact us at noreply@thevoya.net.

2. What We Collect

We collect only what's necessary to provide the service:

• Account info: your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash — we never store your plain-text password)
• Academic info: major, degree type, graduation year, and graduation status
• App content: applications, reminders, documents, resume bullets, and other content you create inside VOYA
• Usage data: basic server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and debugging

We do not collect payment information, government IDs, or sensitive personal data.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and improve the VOYA service
• To send reminder emails you have configured
• To authenticate your account and keep it secure
• To debug errors and maintain the platform

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Railway (railway.app). We use industry-standard practices including password hashing, HTTPS encryption in transit, and environment-variable-based secret management. However, as stated in our Terms of Service, we cannot guarantee absolute security during this beta period.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate VOYA:

• Railway — hosting and database
• SendGrid — transactional email delivery
• OpenAI — AI-powered writing features

Each of these services has their own privacy policies governing how they handle data passed through them.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and associated data

7. Cookies & Sessions

VOYA uses a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

8. Children's Privacy

VOYA is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of VOYA after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
